Activites

Sri Lanka offers an impressively diverse range of experiences, from culture to landscapes. You’ll encounter multiple dialects, age‑old languages, and distinctive communities rich in traditions, folklore, and legends, along with powdery beaches, dramatic rock formations, challenging mountain trails, and tranquil, mirror-like lakes waiting to be explored.

White Water Rafting in Kitulgala

In the wet zone forest area you’ll find one of Sri Lanka’s finest locations, splendid and rich with nature’s gifts. The town is called Kitulgala, where wildlife lives, plants grow, fishes swim, and the Kelani River flows. This is the primary destination for white water rafting in Sri Lanka. The experience usually covers a distance of 5 km with five major rapids and four minor rapids. Kitulgala is also famous as the filming location for the classic 1957 movie, "The Bridge on the River Kwai."

Water Sports in Bentota

Whether you’ve never done it before, or if you’re an expert, this is the wonderful sea activity for everyone. Swim in the warm Indian Ocean, and see tropical scenery while engaging in adrenaline-pumping activities. Bentota is known as the water sports capital of Sri Lanka. The unique geography, where the calm Bentota River meets the sea, allows for a wide range of sports including jet skiing, banana boat rides, windsurfing, and wakeboarding all in one location.

Snorkeling

Sri Lanka is a land of undaunted coastal beauty, pristine beaches, vast wildlife, and a paradise to witness the picturesque sunset which makes this island the ‘pearl of Indian Ocean.’ Beneath the surface, the island offers world-class snorkeling. Locations such as Pigeon Island in Trincomalee, Hikkaduwa, and Mirissa are famous for their live coral reefs, where you can swim alongside Blacktip reef sharks, Green turtles, and schools of vibrant tropical fish.

Kitesurfing

Kitesurfing is a wind powered surface watersport using a kite and a board to move across the water. Kitesurfing harnesses the power of the wind through a large parachute-type kite to propel a rider across the water on a small surfboard or kiteboard. In Sri Lanka, Kalpitiya is the premier destination for this sport due to the consistent winds during the May–October and December–March seasons. The shallow lagoons offer perfect conditions for beginners, while the ocean side challenges professionals.
